Jay Antani is a novelist, film critic, and freelance writer/editor. Born in India, he grew up in various towns and cities across America before his family settled in Madison, Wisconsin. Before college, Jay went to back India with his family for two years. "The Leaving of Things," his first novel, is, in fact, a fictionalized version of that experience.
After finishing his B.A. in English and Film Studies at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Jay made for Los Angeles where he worked as a storyboard artist for film and television projects as well as a freelance script reader and a film preservationist at AMPAS, all while pursuing his primary passion: writing. Jay's film criticism, meanwhile, has appeared in numerous online and print outlets, including Boxoffice Magazine, Slant Magazine, Filmcritic.com, Paste Magazine and his own site CinemaWriter (www.cinemawriter.com).
In 2008, he completed his first graphic novel, The Mysterians - a sci-fi fantasy about teenagers saving the Earth from an alien invasion - published by TokyoPop. Meanwhile, seeking greater focus on his fiction, Jay enrolled in the graduate writing program at the University of Southern California, where he studied under Janet Fitch, Gina Nahai and Rita Williams and where The Leaving of Things was born.
Jay lives in Los Angeles with his wife, son, and cat.
