My award winning mystery series began with a challenge from my son, who said, ""Mom, you're always reading mysteries why don't you try writing one."" To meet his challenge, I created amateur sleuth Leigh Girard who flees Chicago for the resort community of Door County, Wisconsin where she takes a job as a reporter for the local newspaper. She quickly discovers that beneath the wild beauty of the Door Peninsula lurks murder. The latest book, Peak Season for Murder, won an award for ""Best Traditional Amateur Sleuth.""
On a personal note, I recently appeared on the national PBS show Genealogy Roadshow. The show solved a family mystery that I've never been able to solve. My mother's life-chanaging secret is the basis of my next book.
