Journalist/author Greta Beigel, a Honolulu resident, finds herself engaged in yet another career incarnation. First, as child piano prodigy in South Africa, she enjoyed a career as concert pianist. A scholarship from the University of South Africa propelled her to migrate/study in Los Angeles where she morphed from performer into music scribe, working many years as reporter and editor at the Los Angeles Times. Traveling around the globe, she got her memoirs down pat, publishing “Kvetch: One Bitch of a Life—A Memoir of Music & Survival.” For a talk at New York’s 92nd Y, she created “To Africa: No Love,” her one-woman show based on the book. Seems she's caught the acting bug and envisions taking the show on the road, employing multitudinous accents, of course.
