Scott Solomon

About the author

Scott Solomon is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of BioSciences at Rice University. He has a Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior from the University of Texas at Austin where his research examined the evolutionary basis of biological diversity in the Amazon Basin. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC and the State University of São Paulo in Rio Claro, Brazil before joining the faculty at Rice University, where he teaches courses in introductory biology, ecology, evolutionary biology, tropical field biology, and scientific communication. In addition to his research on the biology of ants, he speaks and writes about science for the general public. He lives in Houston, Texas with his wife and three children.
