Nurit Schonmann

About the author

Nurit Schonman, a mother of two and a social worker, specializes in the field of old age and dementia. Schonman has been working with people coping with dementia and with their families for the past 20 years. Becoming familiar with their lives and challenges and since dementia is affecting all family members, she realized the need to address to the younger relatives – the grandchildren-and find a way to explain to children what is happening to grandparents with dementia. She also understood the importance of explaining how children can interact with loved ones who have dementia, so as to keep the time spent together enjoyable. Today, Schonman is studying for an MA in Gerontology and her children’s books are used to aid parents and children who are coping with dementia in the family.
