Avi Friede

About the author

Avi Friede is an architect, poet, and writer. Over the years, he has engaged in many different occupations: carpenter, soldier, computer technician, porter, and painter, among other odd jobs. As life steered him along, Avi evolved until he centered around his profession as an architect. His first book, The Woman in the Reflection, is a unique love story that explores its characters' layers of affection and humanity. His second book, The Heart of the Desert, is a family’s fantastical journey of reconnection through the Arabian Desert. Friede’s fiction draws heavily on the stories, situations, and people he encountered during his career. He weaves new images and stories from their lives and his own. To him, architecture means people. Many times, when couples reach a unique stage in their lives where they are about to fulfill their dream, Avi is with them all the way, curious and alert to every story and its circumstances. He learns about them and applies his rich insights to the home he designs for them.
