Robert MacNeil Christie PhD

Robert MacNeil Christie, PhD, is Professor Emeritus of Sociology and founding Director of the Urban Community Research Center at California State University. He is an instrument-rated pilot, an Aikido Shodan (black belt), a skilled woodworker, and a borne skeptic, all of which influence his writing. Fascinated with technology and Nature since childhood experiences earning the rank of Eagle Scout, he is nevertheless highly skeptical of technological hubris and industrial vanities. Dr. Christie investigates complex adaptive systems in Nature and society, including the potential for social networks to initiate social change for climate action.
