About twelve years ago I was doing nothing with my life. I decided to get back into writing and started back on that path with a class in playwriting. I wrote some ten-minute plays and they won places in contests and festivals. Positive reinforcement, so I kept at it. As much as I liked it, it wasn't my happy place. I could ask questions about life and people, but there wasn't a lot of time to explore those issues. Plus, if you put a spaceship on a stage, it begins to look more comedic than dramatic.
I had other ideas, so I came back to what I enjoyed most, writing fiction prose. I like it here, especially in the science-fiction realms, because I can ask a whole pile of what-ifs and build a world and a story, and take myself and readers on an exciting journey.
